YORK – Barry L. Fetrow, 74, of York, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at The Village at Sprenkle Drive. He was the husband of Faye (Bechtel) Fetrow whom he married 49 years ago on October 13, 1968.
Barry was born July 7, 1943 in York and was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Beck) Fetrow.
In 1961 he graduated from Northeastern High School in Manchester. He was employed as a welder for Engel Machine before retiring in 2009. He was a member of Quickel Lutheran Church in (Zions View) York; Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf; Wii Bowling League at SpiriTrust Lutheran Kelly Team and enjoyed playing Pool at Kelly. Barry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was part of the “Big Red One” which was the first Infantry to land onto the shores of Vietnam.
In addition to his wife, Faye, Barry is survived by his daughter, Alice Mitchell and her husband, Darius of York; his grandchildren, Nathaniel and Emily; brothers, Lamar, Douglas and Fred; sisters, Doris, Bonnie, Nellie; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Quickel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 60 Canal Road, York, Pa. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday at the church. Officiating at the service will be his pastor The Reverend Barbara Barry. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover. Military honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
