Charles R. Kindig, 69, of Mount Wolf, passed away at 8:00 AM, Monday, April 3, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Donna (Naftal) Kindig whom he married 45 years ago on May 1, 1971.
Charles was born January 8, 1948 in York and was the son of the late Charles, Sr., and Helen (Guise) Kindig.
He graduated from William Penn High School in 1965 and from York College in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. He was employed by Caterpillar Tractor Inc., for over 30 years. He was a member of the Hawk’s Club, American Legion, former member of the Elks Club, baseball coach for Zion’s View Athletic Association, and the Northeastern Youth Sports Association an assistant coach with the American Legion. Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a lifetime member of Faith United Church of Christ in York where he was a former elder and deacon. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, Donna, Charles is survived by his son, Benjamin Kindig and his wife Wendy of Mount Wolf; his daughter, Jessica Eberly and her husband Craig of Mount Wolf; three grandchildren, Nolan Eberly, Maya Eberly and Caroline Kindig, and his sister Syrene Kuhn.
His funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM, Friday, April 7, 2017 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitations will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and Friday 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor The Reverend Dr. Ron Oelrich. Full military honors will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard at the graveside.
