MANCHESTER – Edna L. (Shue) Brothers, 91, of Manchester, passed away at 8:24 PM on Monday, March 20, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Charles Brothers, Jr.
Mrs. Brothers was born July 11, 1925 in York and was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Sipe) Shue.
She worked extremely hard on the family farm in Emigsville for over 50 years until she retired from the farm in 1992. She also provided for her family as a full time homemaker caring for her husband and children and extended family. In her spare time she enjoyed going to yard sales. She was a member of the Starview Farm Women’s Group #7 in Starview, former 4-H Leader and taught Kindergarten Sunday School for over 25 years at Mount Zion Lutheran Church where she was a former member.
Mrs. Brothers, is survived by her two sons, Richard Brothers and his wife Shelia of York, Thomas Brothers and his wife Linda of Manchester; 8 grandchildren, Richard Brothers, Jr., Michael Brothers, Jodi Holtzman, Hope Brothers, Valerie Clarkson, Rebecca DeLargy, Jesse Fultineer, and Dylan Fultineer; 9 great grandchildren including Jacob Brothers who was a special comfort to his grandmother; 4 great great grandchildren and her sister Margaret Smyser of York. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Schwartz, Amy Mann, Laura Heidlebaugh and Marie Wallace and her two brothers, Charles Shue and George Shue.
Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Saturday, at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Officiating at her service will be The Reverend Brian A. McClinton from Mount Zion Lutheran Church.
