MANCHESTER – Ellen Elizabeth (Blessley) Farcht was born February 3, 1922 in Camp Hill, PA. and died May 16, 2018 in York. She was the wife of the late Thomas E. Farcht, Sr., whom she married 57 years ago in 1949 and who passed away on September 20, 2006.
Mrs. Farcht was the daughter of the late Levi F. and Miriam E. Blessley. She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Farcht, Jr and daughter-in-law, Sandra; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Farcht and a son-in-law, David LaLeike; a granddaughter, Greta, a step-granddaughter, Kathleen, and a niece, Jo. She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Mary Blessley; her brother Lee, and also close cousins.
Ellen was retired from Northeastern School District. She was employed at various places, including GMAC, the former Dauphin Deposit Bank & Trust Co. and the Katherine Beecher Candy Co. She served as a secretary for the County and District Christian Endeavor (CE) Chaired fund drives and volunteered for various charities. She was a member of Concerned Women for American and the Sparrow’s Club at the Crystal Cathedral. A member of St. Paul United Methodist Church she enjoyed books, music and travel, especially travel near and on the sea. She loved and appreciated family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester, PA. Officiating at her service will be The Reverends Dr. Eddie D. D. Miller and Reverend Darby Nace. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
