MOUNT WOLF – Etta K. (Horner) McClain Zimmerman, 98, of Mount Wolf, passed away at 3:09 PM, Friday, September 14, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of the late Wilbur Zimmerman who died on August 2, 1991.

Etta was born July 27, 1920 in Saginaw, East Manchester Township and was the daughter of the late George and Naomi (Gingrich) Horner.

In 1937 she graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester and in 1941 from Garfield Memorial Hospital in DC as a Registered Nurse. She was the school nurse for over 27 years with the Northeastern School District in Manchester. She was a member of Saginaw Community Church in Saginaw. Etta enjoyed Traveling and Counted Cross Stitch.

Etta is survived by her daughter, Kathy Millar and her husband John of York; 2 grandchildren, John Millar, Jr. and Janette Millar; 4 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Horner.

Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Saginaw Community Church, 865 Market Street, Saginaw, East Manchester Twp. Viewings will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, and 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Friday at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York Township. Officiating at the service will be her pastor The Reverend Chuck Sprenkle.

The “kids of 7th st” can t recall childhood memories without Etta playing a large roll in it whether educating us on the names of all the flowers around the house, taking a group to the Strand to see the original Mickey Mouse Club, sharing the stories of her travels to all 50 states or just running a toothpick thru our hair in school. Thank you Etta for some great memories and my thoughts go out to her family
