YORK – Karen Ann (Bricker) Walters, 73, of York, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was the wife of Leo H. Walters whom she married 54 years ago on April 4, 1964.

Karen was born April 12, 1945 in Patton, PA and was the daughter of the late Ivan and Evelyn (Clause) Bricker.

In 1963 she graduated from Cambria Heights High School in Patton, PA. Karen was active in High school, participating in several plays, musicals and choirs. She was one of six young ladies singing in a special musical ensemble titled, “The Little Delights of Cambria Heights”. Upon graduation, Karen worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for one year then joined her husband stationed in Groton, CT while serving with the United States Navy. Upon moving to York in 1978 from Holy Lock, Scotland, Karen and family became very active in the life of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester where she served on several different committees and sang on the church choir for numerous years.

Although she had chronic medical problems all of her life, Karen always had a smile on her face and in her heart. She had a smile for you and anyone even on her darkest of days. Her love of the Lord and his grace gave her those smiles and her strength. Karen’s main joy in life was her children, grandchildren and newest great-grandchild. She loved going to all of their school and church activities. Her face lit up with love when she saw them and received their hugs and kisses.

In addition to her husband, Leo, Karen is survived by her daughter, Sharon Allen and her husband Mark of York; her two sons, Leo Walters and his wife Cindy of York, Paul Walters and his wife Sara of Dover; five grandchildren; one great grandchild and her brother, Allen Bricker of Patton, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Knauer and her brother, Robert Bricker.

Viewings will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 25, 2018 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, and 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. Officiating at the service will be her pastor The Reverend James Parker.

  1. Please accept my deepest, heartfelt sympathy. Karen was a truly wonderful person…. Everytime I think of her I see her with a huge smile, from when we were in school and after graduation! You all were blessed to have her as a wife, mother, grandmother, and relative as we all were blessed who knew her. May she rest in peace. Patty
