YORK – Lila J. Huska, 82, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2019. She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Huska, Sr. Lila was the daughter of the late Gomer and Catherine (Witherson) Evans and was born on May 23, 1936 in Houtzdale, PA.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 15th at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 397 Tyler Run Road, York, PA. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, followed by a service at 11 am. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
Lila graduated from Houtzdale-Woodard High School. She started her career at Sylvania and later earned her LPN certification, retiring from York Hospital after 25 years of service in the Behavioral Health Dept. She was a long-time member and active participant of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, involved with the Helping Hands Food Run, Red Bird Mission trip and Disciple studies. She also was a volunteer for the Contact York Help Hotline. Along with her husband, Bob, she was a foster parent to hundreds of children for over 35 years and was recognized by The Children’s Home of York for outstanding service. Lila’s passion in life was her family, sharing her interest in gardening, pets, family vacations, snowmobiling, bowling and especially Sunday family dinners.
Lila is survived by her children, Robert Huska, Jr. & wife Kate, Linda Jacob & husband Harold, Steven Huska & wife Melissa, David Huska & wife Vickie, Fran Schmitt & husband Peter, Michael Huska & wife Christine and Stella Minadakis, 17 grandchildren, Nichole, Robert III, Brandi, Justin, Stephanie, Samuel, Jason, Jessica, Dylan, Lindsey, Alex, Nick, Marissa, Megan, Eliana, Triston and Trenton and 13 great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Levi, Dawn, Jennifer, Savannah, Eliana, Franky, Sophia, Lucas, Nathan, Delaney, Lacey and Marley. She is also survived by additional special children in her life, Michelle, Heather, Jeanette, Amanda, Victoria, Kelly, Chasity, Jennifer, Brenda and many more too numerous to name. Lila is also survived by her brother Bill Evans & wife Darlene, nieces, nephews & cousins. She was preceded in death by grandsons Derek and Donnie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of York, Aldersgate Church or the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter.
