MOUNT WOLF – Philip “Pete” R. Shelly, Jr., 75, of Mount Wolf, past away at 5:41 AM, Thursday, March 1, 2018 after a short illness with cancer. He was the husband of Bonnie (Staub) Shelly whom he married 58 years ago on July 12, 1959.

Philip was born January 24, 1943 in York and was the son of the late Philip, Sr., and Helena (Kauffman) Shelly.

He was employed for over 40 years with James E. Craft and Sons in York Haven before retiring January 24, 2009. He was a member of the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf and the Wago Club also of Mount Wolf.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, Philip is survived by his three sons, Randy Shelly of Mount Wolf, Richard Shelly and his wife, Candy of York, and Rodrick Shelly of Mount Wolf; his two daughters, Robin Gibbons and her husband, Jim of Wellsville, PA, Rhonda Rang and her husband, Patrick of York; Six grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis Shelly and Ronald Shelly both of Manchester, and Gary Shelly of York, and his beloved dog Katie. Philip was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Shelly.

His funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. His viewing will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Sean Roche from Ambassador Bible Chapel in Manchester.

  1. Will miss visiting with you at the river and during annual yard sale, but always have the great memories. Our heartfelt sympathy to the Shelly family.
