YORK – Robert R. Grim, 96, of York, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at The Brunswick in Longstown. He was the husband of Donna (Fake) Grim of York and the late Peachie (Witmer) Grim.
Mr. Grim was born August 23, 1922, in Conewago Township, York County and was the son of the late Adam and Bertha (Dittenhafer) Grim.
He was employed by the American Chain and Cable Co for over 25 years before retiring in 1987. He attended Arlington Evangelical Congregation Church in Red Lion. He was a life member of the James A. Danner V.F.W. Post 537 in Etters, a member of the Shiloh American Legion and the Starview Sportsmen’s Association. Robert enjoyed traveling with his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WW II from 1942-1945 and served in both the European and Pacific Theaters.
In addition to his wife, Donna, Robert is survived by his daughters, Connie (Frank) Cummings and Fawnetta (Jerre) Reichley both of York; his daughter-in-law, Arlene Grim of York; his step-sons, Rene Snyder of Glen Rock, and Jason Snyder of York; 4 grandchildren; 4 Step-Grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 9 Step great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Grim and his 7 brothers.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 14, 2019, at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Strinestown Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be the Reverend Mark Zortman. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors at the graveside service.
