MANCHESTER – Rodney G. Zeigler, Sr., 85, of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Urey) Zeigler.
Rodney was born February 18, 1933, in York and was the son of the late Earl and Grace (Horner) Zeigler.
He attended Manchester High School, class of 1951. He was employed for 39 years at Beshore and Koller Ford in Manchester before retiring in 1998, F&S Transportation for 50 years and the Northeastern School District in Maintenance for 16 years. He was a member of the Wago Club in Mount Wolf, Manchester Fire Company, Manchester Central League Baseball and the Northeastern EMS. Rodney proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, Rodney is survived by his three sons, Rodney Zeigler, Jr., of York, Kevin Zeigler and his wife Kim of Spring Grove, and Ivan Heikes of York; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Rodney was preceded in death by his three brothers and his sister.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 18, 2018, at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be The Reverend Philip K. Nace.
