Allen "Pap" O. Golden
MOUNT WOLF - Allen "Pap" O. Golden, 95, of Mount Wolf, passed away at 8:42 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the home of his daughter Susan Good. He was the husband of the late Ruth V. (Altland) Golden who passed away on July 31, 1980.
Allen was born May 28, 1916 in York County and was the son of the late James and Bessie (Hartlaub) Golden.
He was a self employed farmer for many years but also was employed by Lucking Bros., and Glen Gary Brick Company, both in York. He was a member of the Hawk Gunning Club, Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 in Mount Wolf, Liberty Social Club, Viking Club, York County Racing Club and the Teamsters Union Local 429. One of his biggest enjoyments was being an avid Racing Car fan. He attendant his last Nascar Race at the age of 93.
Allen was survived by his daughter Susan Good and her husband Gary of Manchester, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry A. Golden, his brother and his three sisters.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2011 at The Diehl Funeral Home &Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Springettsbury Township. Officiating at the service will be The Reverend Brian McClinton from Mount Zion Lutheran Church.
