William F. Weaver
MANCHESTER - William F. Weaver, 84, of Manchester, passed away at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of Joan C. (Reider) Weaver whom he married 41 years ago on September 30, 1970
William was born May 4, 1927 in Swiss Dale, PA and was the son of the late Corson and Ellen J. (Johnson) Weaver.
He graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1945 and later from Pierce College in Philadelphia. He proudly served with in the United States Army in the 9th Air Force as a Sgt. in WW II. in Germany. He retired from G. C. Murphy and Ames Mart as a Manager after 40 years of Service. After his retirement he worked for Advance Auto and Ace Hardware. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion Post #799, Masonic Lodge 101 AF & AM Elkridge, MD., Lodge of Perfection, Lancaster, Pa., 32 Degree Masonic Consistory and Zembo Temple of Harrisburg, Pa. and Zion Lutheran Church in York
In addition to his wife Joan, William is survived by his daughter, Dr. Sheree Contres and her husband William, Jr., of York; his two grandchildren; Andrea Contres, and Brett Contres and his wife Alyssa; and his great grandson Elias Contres. William was preceded in death by his brother Donald K. Weaver.
Services for William will be private. Burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery in Manchester. Officiating for his service will be his pastor The Reverend Janyce Jorgensen from Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf. York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors at the graveside service.
