Joyce M. Rode

MOUNT WOLF – Joyce M. (Sprenkle) Rode, 88, of Mount Wolf, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at her home in Mount Wolf.  She was the wife of the late Donald G. Rode who passed away March 31, 1990.

Mrs. Rode was born January 1, 1935, in Manchester and was the daughter of the late William and Miriam (Arndt) Sprenkle.

She graduated in 1952 from Manchester High School in Manchester.  She was employed by Nina Dye Works, Western National Bank and Naylor's Candies.  She enjoyed writing short stories, poetry, gardening, reading, and puzzles.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mount Wolf.

Mrs. Rode is survived by her daughters, Daneen Herbert of York, Dawn Gembe of Mount Wolf and Deanna Jenkins, and her husband Carlos of Towson, MD; her son, Donn Rode of Mount Wolf; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Bria, Nathan, Joshua, Jalissa, Rihana, Carjahn, and Delahn; ten great grandchildren, Mason, Leila, Levi, Siena, Everleigh, Jaxon, Walker, Anna, Jemma, Beckham, and her sister, Delores Rehrer of Manchester.

Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 11, 2023, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Her viewing will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.  Her burial will be in Manchester Union Cemetery.  Officiating at the service will be her pastor Reverend Jason Northridge.
