Robert H. Shaffer

YORK – Robert H. Shaffer, 89 of York, called into Heaven, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in York.  He was the husband of Susan K. (Toomey) Shaffer whom he married 61 years ago on July 31, 1960.

Robert was born December 31, 1931, in York and was the son of the late Clair and Edna (Snyder) Shaffer.

He graduated in 1950 from North York High School in North York and in 1952 from Prowell Commercial College.  He retired in 1994 following 42 years as a Truck Dispatcher with Arkansas Best Freight (ABF).   He enjoyed gardening and wood crafts and was a lifetime member of Strinestown United Brethren Church in Strinestown.

In addition to his wife, Susan, Robert is survived by his daughter, Tammy S. Shaffer of Palm Coast, FL; granddaughter, Taylor N. Sargen of York; grandson, Adam M. Sargen of York, and a great grandson, Cameron E. Jacobs.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth I Shue.

Funeral services for Robert will begin at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 26, 2021, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.   Burial will be in Strinestown Cemetery in Strinestown.  Officiating at the service will be Reverend Dawn Spangler
