Anna Mae Freeze
YORK – Anna Mae (Lehigh) Freeze, 82, of York, formerly of Emigsville, passed away, Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Kingston Court Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of the late Donald O. Freeze who passed away on August 4, 2016.
Anna Mae was born February 5, 1941, in Emigsville and was the daughter of the late Edward Richard Lehigh and Dorothy (Billet) Lehigh Hess, and her late stepmother, Maria Lehigh and her late stepfather Woodrow Hess.
After 30 years she retired in 2003 from Central York School District as the head cook at numerous schools in the district. She was a member of the Alert Fire Company all of her life; White Rose Eastern Star #360; Yorktowne Cedarettes, and Otterbein United Methodist Church in Emigsville.
Anna Mae is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Kunkle and her husband Jeffrey of Mount Wolf; her son, Douglas Freeze and his wife Christine of York; 2 grandchildren, Daniel Freeze and Jessica Kunkle; one great granddaughter, Alayna Freeze; her half-brothers, Steve Lehigh and Rick Lehigh both of York, and numerous nieces and nephews. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Hagerman, and her half-sister, Sue Billet.
Her Celebration of Life service will begin at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Alert Fire Company, 3118 North George Street, Emigsville, PA. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday at the firehall. Her burial will be private in Mount Zion Cemetery in York. Officiating at the service will be her pastor Reverend Richard Bowers and her former pastor Reverend Dr. Eddie D. D. Miller. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
