YORK HAVEN – Audrey Jean (Horning) Coons, 87, of York Haven, passed away, Friday, August 30, 2024, at Autumn House East in York, PA.  She was the wife of the late Merle E. Coons who passed away December 14, 2018.

Mrs. Coons was born March 1, 1937, in York Haven and was the daughter of the late G. William and Mary Ellen (Gundy) Horning.

She graduated in 1955 from Manchester High School in Manchester, PA, and later from Thompson Business Institute in West York, PA.  She was employed as a purchasing agent for the United States Government for over 25 years before retiring.  She was a former member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in York Haven. 

Mrs. Coons was preceded in death by her daughter, Stacy Lynn Coons, her son, Blake William Coons and her brother, Terry W. Kauffman.

Her graveside service and burial at Mount Rose Cemetery will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
