Audrey Elizabeth Gembe

YORK – Audrey Elizabeth (Kindig) Gembe, 80 of York, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Autumn House East in York, PA.  She was the wife of the late Samuel Edward Gembe who passed away February 8, 2014.

Audrey was born August 5, 1945, in York, PA and was the daughter of the late Cletus and Mary (Wood) Kindig.

She graduated from Central York senior High School in York.  She was employed as a seamstress with Danskin in York for many years before retiring.  She enjoyed gardening, going to McDonalds with her friends, enjoyed camping and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.  She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Emigsville, PA.

Audrey is survived by her sons, Todd Samuel Gembe of York, Jay Edward Gembe and his wife Tina of Dover, and Terry Jacob Gembe and his wife Joann of Dallastown, her daughter, Diane Wells and her husband Ray of Strinestown; eleven grandchildren, Barbara Jean, Jacob, Amanda, Joshua, Holly, Tabitha, Jessica, Samuel, Joelle, Kayla, and Tyler, and twenty-three great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Carson Kindig.

Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 20, 2025, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  Her visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Monday, at the funeral home.  Her burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.  Officiating at her service will be her pastor, Bishop Danny Haas.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to be made to the Dementia organization or to the Crones Disease organization.
