Barbara Ann Barton

DOVER – Barbara Ann (Blymire) Barton, 92, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey.  She was the wife of the late Donald E. Barton, Sr who passed away June 21, 1990.

Mrs. Barton was born August 15, 1931, in Manchester and was the daughter of the late Dr. George S. and Grace H. (Conway) Blymire.

She graduated in 1949, from Manchester High School in Manchester, PA.  Barbara was employed as a secretary and as a Teacher’s Aide by Northeastern School District for over 30 years before her retirement.  She was an avid card player and was a member of various card clubs in the area.  Mrs. Barton loved social and family gatherings and playing games. She was a member of the Northeastern Senior Center where she volunteered and delivered meals on wheels.  In her earlier years she was a gifted vocalist for various events. She was a lifelong member of Otterbein Church in Mount Wolf.

Mrs. Barton is survived by her daughters, Denise Crerand and her husband Tom of Mount Wolf, Beth Barton and her husband Joe Kane of York, and Amy Jo Rauhauser and her husband Gene of Manchester; her son Donald E. Barton, Jr. and his wife Gina of York; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; her brother, Dr. Ned Blymire and his wife Emelyn of Mount Wolf, and her sister in laws, Phyllis Blymire of Willow Street, and Patricia Prowell and her husband Harold of York, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. George Blymire, Jr. 

Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Otterbein Church, Center Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  Her visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Tuesday at the church.  Her burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.  Officiating at her service will be her pastor Reverend Mark Zortman.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
