Buford B. Chidester
MOUNT WOLF – Buford B. Chidester, 81, of Mount Wolf, PA, passed away, Monday, October 28, 2024, at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jane (Benneman) Chidester.
Buford was born December 15, 1942, in West Virginia, and was the son of the late Orval and Icie (Strader) Chidester.
He graduated in 1962, from Buckhannon Upshur High School in Buckhannon, West Virginia. He was employed as an engineer with GEA Corporation for 32 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Hawks Gunning Club in York, PA, and Luther Memorial Lutheran church in York, PA. He attended Saginaw Community Church in Saginaw. Buford proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Buford enjoyed restoring 1920’s era Radio Speakers. He was well known in the antique radio community for his expertise on the subject and skill at restorations. He and his wife, Jane, wrote a pictorial reference and value guide for 1920’s Radio Cone speakers which is available on Amazon.
Buford is survived by his son, Mark Chidester, and his wife Amy of Dover, PA, Eric Lehman, and his fiancé of Maricopa AZ, his daughter, Stephanie Campbell, and her husband, Craig of York, PA, Two grandchildren, Violet and Ailey Chidester, one step-grandchild, Shauna Lehman, and one step- great grandchild of Casa Grande AZ; his brothers, Roger Chidester, of Frederick, MD, Ersel Chidester and John Chidester of Rock Cave, WV, and his sister, Lois Chidester, of Buckhannon, WV. Buford was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, brother, Elmer Chidester, his sisters, Violet, Bonnie, and Wanda and a step-granddaughter, Bethal Lehman.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 8, 2024, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA. His visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Friday at the funeral home. His burial will be in Saginaw Cemetery in Saginaw, East Manchester Township. Officiating at his service will be Reverend Eugene Liddick, pastor of Saginaw Community Church. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide Flag Folding and Taps at his graveside service.
