Cara Louise Slusser

YORK – Cara Louise Slusser, 75 of York, went to be with her Lord, Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Cara was born on July 6, 1950, in Berwick, PA and was the daughter of the late Olen Slusser and Pricilla (Bower) Slusser Wharton.

Cara’s greatest joy was her grandchildren.  She was known for her quick smile, kindness, love of laughter and spending time in nature.

She graduated in 1969 from Northeastern Senior High School in Manchester, PA and later from Harrisburg Area Community College.  She was employed by Jack and Jill Nursery in York, PA.  She was a member of The Little Church in York, PA.

Cara is survived by her daughters, Lori Slusser and Cathy Herber both of York; her stepchildren, Tarcher Lowery and Frank Dortch; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; her sister, Tammy Jones, and her brother, Olen Slusser all of York.  She was preceded in death by her son, Jermaine F. Slusser and stepson, Jerelle Dortch, brother, William Slusser, mother, father and stepfather, Michael Wharton.

Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  Her viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.  Her burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens in Dover, PA.  Officiating at the service will be Pastor Nathan Trimmer.
