Carolyn Joan Sides

MOUNT WOLF – Carolyn Joan (Hess) Sides, 84, of Mount Wolf, PA, passed away, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York, PA.  She was the wife of Donald E. Sides whom she married nearly 58 years ago on January 24, 1968.

Carolyn was born on October 10, 1941, in Parkersburg, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Cleopas and Olive (Kessor) Hess.

She graduated from high school in East Point Maryland and Towson State University in Towson, Maryland.  She taught school in Maryland for a few years before moving to Pennsylvania and taught for the Northeastern School District in Manchester, PA at Orendorf Elementary and schools in Manchester and Mount Wolf. 

In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by daughter, Jennifer Yospa of Middletown, PA, her sons, Aaron Sides of York, PA, and Daniel Sides of Mount Wolf, PA, and seven grandchildren.

Carolyn’s graveside service will begin at 12:00 PM (Noon) Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf, PA.

Those planning on an expression of sympathy may consider a contribution in Carolyn’s name to Red Cross, Salvation Army or to Otterbein Church in Mount Wolf, PA.
