Charles W. Murphy, Jr.
Mount Wolf – Charles W. Murphy, Jr., 93, of Mount Wolf, passed away, Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Providence Place in Dover. He was the husband of the late V. Isabel (Kohr) Murphy who passed away December 28, 2021
Mr. Murphy was born June 15, 1930, in Mount Wolf and was the son of the late Charles W. Murphy, Sr. and Lucinda (Snell) Murphy.
He graduated in 1948 from Manchester High School in Manchester. He was employed by Hamilton Technology for 19 years before retiring as an engineer. He was a member of the Hawks Club, Starview Sportsmen’s Association, Pleasureville American Legion Post #799, York County Scooter Club, and Saginaw Community Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating on the Susquehanna River and riding his scooter. His favorite memory was, at the age of 83, riding the Tail of the Dragon on his motorcycle at Deals Gap, North Carolina with 318 curves in 11 miles.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his daughters, Karen Binkley and her husband, Ben of Manchester, Lou Ann Keim and husband, Chris of Columbia, Lynn Edris and her husband, Scott of Spring Grove and Kathleen Aldinger and her husband, Russ of York; seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
His memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Officiating at the service will be Reverend Dr. Eddie D. D. Miller.
A special thanks to the Lifesong Hospice team, Katherine, Katie, Lynne, Ashley, Chad, and Nicole who did an amazing job of taking care of dad, and the staff of Providence Place, Heather, Andrew, and the aids who brought his meals daily.
