Cheryl Bury Obituary

YORK - Cheryl was born April 11, 1953 in Port Chester, NY. She was the youngest of four children, Garrick Solovey, John Solovey and Deborah Gibbs, and told many stories of the trouble she would get into with her sister, Debbie, when they were growing up. The family moved to York, PA when she was a child. Cheryl graduated from Central York High School. She went on to raise four children, over 23 years, to ensure that there was always chaos and children's laughter through her house. When Cheryl was asked what made her happiest her answer was "my family." She leaves a wonderful loving husband, Dr. Robert Bury, with whom she worked in his dental practice. She will be missed by her children, Melissa Hameier and husband, Kurt Hameier, Diana Everett and husband, Corey Everett and Taylor Bury. Mom-Mom was so proud of her grandchildren, Kieran Ohliger, Benjamin Everett and Allison Hameier. Brinley, her golden retriever, already misses her. Those who know her best would agree that she found joy in giving gifts to those she loved and those she had never met. Christmas was her favorite holiday and celebrated with multiple decorated trees, a beautiful outdoor display and a moving Christmas village that took up most of the living room. She loved being at the beach and spent many afternoons sitting in her rocker on the porch in Cape May. Her husband would plan anniversary trips to NYC to see Broadway shows, eat great meals and probably to shop for Christmas presents. Mother's Day was almost always celebrated at Hersheypark, where no day was complete without a family ride through Chocolate World. It is a fitting place to be with the sweetest mom on earth, and now in heaven. We will miss you, but we take some solace in knowing that you are pain-free and running to meet your son, Jimmy, and your mother and father, Nonnie and John. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Diehl Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17 with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 followed by luncheon at St John Chrysostom Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2397 North Sherman Street, York, PA 17406. The family has chosen a private burial service. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for you to consider a memorial contribution in Cheryl's name to Alex's Lemonade Stand, which supports pediatric cancer research. To honor Cheryl's passion for giving to those in need, perhaps you will adopt a family for the holidays and provide them with gifts this season.
