Clarence N. Werner, Jr.

MOUNT WOLF – Clarence N. Werner, Jr., 94, of Mount Wolf, passed away, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at York View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York.  He was the husband of Althea (Shaeffer) Werner, who he had been married to for 74 years.

Clarence was born September 14, 1930, in Pleasureville, PA and was the son of the late Clarence N. Werner, Sr. and Nellie (Keasey) Werner.

He graduated in 1948 from William Penn Senior High School in York.  He was employed by Eshleman’s Feed Mill in York and later retired from Caterpillar in York after over 20 years.  He was a member of Mount Zion United Church of Christ in York.

Clarence enjoyed fishing, mostly at Chincoteague, VA and hunting in Clinton County and working in his garden.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserves.

In addition to his wife, Clarence is survived by his son, Bruce Werner of Dallastown, PA, his daughters, Cheryl Weibley and her husband Dennis of Mount Wolf, PA. and Sandra Reck of Dover, PA; his grandsons, William Werner and his wife Barbara of Simpsonville, SC; David Werner and his wife, Leslie of York, PA and his great granddaughter, Mayim.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Reynolds of Florida, and his brother, Ronald Werner of Red Lion.

His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  His viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the funeral home.  His burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in York.  Officiating at the service will be his pastor, Reverend Amy Northridge.
