Donald Eugene Diehl
YORK – Donald Eugene Diehl, 90, of York, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the husband of Norma A. (Leakway) Diehl, to whom he was married for 71 years.
Donald was born January 28, 1935, in York, PA and was the son of the late Viola Diehl.
He graduated in 1954 from William Penn Senior High School in York, PA. He was employed as a Machinist 1st class and worked at Readco for 31 years and Graham Engineering for 15 years before retiring in 1995. Following his retirement, he drove school bus for Durham part time for thirteen years. He was a member of the Emigsville Band from 1985 to 1999 and a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Dover, Pa. In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his son, Terry L. Diehl and his wife Deborah of Dover, PA; his grandson, Matthew Lee Diehl and his wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, Riley Lynn Diehl, and Charlotte Grace Diehl, and his cousin, Judy Snyder. Donald was preceded in death by his son, David E. Diehl, his granddaughter, Heather Anne Diehl, his brothers, Leo Diehl, Ray Dierdorff, and Ted Dierdorff, and his sisters, Betty Amsbaugh and Ethel Baer.
His memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 North Main Street, Dover, PA. His visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Thursday, at the church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, PA. Officiating at his service will be Reverend Abigail Leese. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf, PA.
