MANCHESTER – Edwin R. Farrell, 82, left this earthy life and entered into God’s eternal care early Monday morning, March 7, 2022, at WellSpan York Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Virginia M. (Wilkes) Farrell, who was his devoted companion and caregiver.  They would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on March 21, 2022.  He will be sorely missed by Virginia, his family, and by all of those who knew him.

Born November 1, 1939, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Walter Farrell and Jane (Sienkiewicz) Farrell.

Edwin graduated in 1957 from South Scranton Catholic High School and proudly served on the USS Intrepid while in the U.S. Navy.  He retired in 1997 following 35 years of service for ADT Security.

His faith in the Lord brought him through many difficult times and he was loved dearly by his family.  One of his greatest pleasures was watching Penn State football and he was one of their most loyal fans.

In addition to his wife, Virginia, Edwin is survived by his son, Bruce E. Farrell and wife, Amy (Landis) Farrell of Etters; daughter, Lori L. Smith and husband, Thomas Smith of Mount Wolf; and granddaughter, Avonleigh Farrell.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phyllis Davis.

His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.  Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery where veteran’s honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard.  Officiating at his service will be Pastor Carl George of the York Haven Campus of Vibrant.
