Ellen E. Myers
DOVER – Ellen Elizabeth Whitehead Myers of Dover, PA, passed away on the morning of March 31, 2021.
Born on December 25, 1941, in Carter County, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Blake and Lucy Guinn. Ellen moved to York, Pennsylvania in 1964 with her late husband J. D. Whitehead. After J.D.’s passing, Ellen married the late Francis Myers of Dover, PA.
Ellen was a hard working woman who spent many years working in sewing factories, the latest of which was Tighe Industries where she retired at the age of 72. She was an avid collector of dolls and other knick knacks. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She loved cooking and baking and on any given Sunday in her younger years, her house was full of enough freshly made food to feed an army.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husbands, J. D. Whitehead and Francis Myers, five of her siblings, and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Whitehead. She is survived by her and J.D.’s five sons, Rick Whitehead of Airville, PA, Gary Whitehead and his wife Lorie of York Haven, PA, Charlie Whitehead and his partner Kristy Geesey of York Haven, PA, Curtis Whitehead and his wife Lucy of Kingsport, Tennessee and John Whitehead of Dover, PA. In addition toher sons, she is survived by four of her siblings, Gladys Cox, Jackie Howell, Glenda Calbert and Verlin Guinn; her seven grandchildren, Charles Whitehead, Jr. of York Haven, PA., Alex Whitehead and his wife Amanda of New Providence, PA, Dillon Whitehead of Red Lion, PA, Adam Whitehead and his wife Casey of Dover, PA., Carter Whitehead and his fiancé Sarah Mae Gross of Manchester, PA, Jake Whitehead of Airville, PA, and Nicole Fenton and her husband Adrian of York, PA and her four great grandchildren, Jackson Whitehead, Adrian Fenton, Jr., Mark Whitehead, and Wes Whitehead.
Ellen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed dearly.
Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saginaw Cemetery in the village of Saginaw, East Manchester Township. Officiating at her service will be Reverend James Winter, Sr.
