DOVER – Elwood M. Swartz, 89, of Dover, PA, passed away, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Wellspan York Hospital in York, PA.  He was the husband to Madeline (Lentz) Swartz.

Elwood was born July 17, 1935, in York, PA and was the son of the late Eugene and Laura (Weire) Swartz.

He was a self-employed Dairy Farmer for many years before retiring in 1974.  Following his retirement from farming, Elwood was employed for many years with C. C. Deitz contractors in York, PA.  He was a former member of Quickel Lutheran Church in York, PA.

Elwood is survived and missed by his loving wife Madeline (Lentz) of over 69 years; 3 children, Steve Swartz and his wife Kathy of Cape Coral FL., Robert Swartz and his wife Tracy of Dover, PA, Linda (Swartz) Hale and her husband, Donald of York, PA; four grandchildren, Angela (Swartz) Ayscue, Justin Hale, Adam Swartz, and Nathan Swartz; two great grandchildren, Parker and Madison Ayscue; and his brother, Ronald Swartz and his wife Linda.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stewart, Vernon, Franklin and Edward and his sisters, Gladys Glatfelter, Helen Miller and Evelyn Frey.

His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 17, 2025, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  His viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home.  His burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York.  Officiating at his service will be Reverend Alan Harbold
