Franklin Swartz Obituary

YORK - Franklin D. Swartz, 85, of York, passed away Saturday evening at Community and Hospice Care in Mount Joy. He was the husband of June H. (Sweitzer) Swartz to whom he was happily married to for 65 years. Franklin was born March 19, 1933 in York and was the son of the late Eugene and Laura (Weire) Swartz. He grew up working on the family farm before retiring in 1997 after more than 40 years of service with Campbell Chain Company, now Cooper Tools in York. He was a member of the York Hiking Club, Green Door Hunting Camp and Quickels Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, volleyball, hiking, and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, June, Franklin is survived by his two sons, Michael Swartz and his wife, Marie of Dover, and Andrew Swartz and his wife, Leighann of York; his daughter, Kathy Dellinger and her husband, Tim of Forestville, CA; 5, grandchildren, Jordan, Mackenzie and Emily Swartz, Sarah Matthews, and Matthew Dellinger; two brothers, Ronald Swartz and Elwood Swartz both of York, and his sister, Evelyn Frey of Okeechobee, FL. Franklin was preceded in death by a son, Mark Swartz; his grandson, Thomas Yeager; his granddaughter, Jessica Swartz; his brothers, Stewart Swartz, Vernon Swartz and Edward Swartz and his sisters, Gladys Glatfelter and Helen Miller. His memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 20, 2018 at The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Quickels Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor The Reverend Katrina Holland.
