George W. Becker
YORK – George W. Becker, 97 of York, was greeted at Heaven’s door by his wife on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his home in York, PA. He was married to the late Doris P. (Nitchman) Becker for 51 years, who passed away on April 19, 2003.
George was born August 19, 1928, in York, PA. and was the son of the late William and Mamie (Gotwalt) Becker and the youngest of seven children.
He graduated in 1946, from Central York Senior High School and later graduated from York Junior College. He was a real estate broker who owned and operated Penn Realty of York with his late wife Doris. George held a private pilots license an auctioneer’s license as well as being a real estate assessor. He enjoyed hunting in Canada and Alaska as well as gardening. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War.
George is survived by his sons, Wayne D. Becker, and Timothy D. Becker; his daughter, Cindy J. Shafer; three grandchildren, Michael E. Becker, Amanda L. Cheng, Terra M. Becker; four great grandsons, Steven Michael Becker, Patrick E. Axe, Joshua D. Axe, and Alexander G. Axe. George was preceded in death by his brothers, Dan Smyser, Bill Becker, Harold Becker, Robert Becker, and John Becker and his sister, Florence Hoover.
His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA. His viewing will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. His burial will be in Shiloh Union Cemetery in (Shiloh) York, PA. Officiating at his service will be his nephew, Chaplain Bradley Becker.
