George R. Benyak, Sr.

YORK - George R. Benyak, Sr., 88 of York, passed away, Monday, November 3, 2025, at Wellspan York Hospital.  He was the husband of Kimberly J. (Dubbs) Benyak whom he married 32 years.

George was born October 21, 1937, in Saginaw, East Manchester Township, York County, PA and was the son of the late John and Anna (Achaj) Benyak.

He graduated in 1955 from Manchester Senior High School in Manchester, PA. George worked for Allis-Chalmers/Voith Hydro in 1959 starting as a boiler maker apprentice. Later he was employed by Victor Equipment Company as a Regional Manager for 36 years. Lastly George worked for the Harris Product Group for 20 years as a Technical Trainer where he retired at the young age of 85. George's passions in life were boat racing and fishing.  He was a former member of the American Power Boat Association.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his son, George Benyak, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Pottsville, PA; his daughter, Andrea Thompson and her husband Ed of Street, MD, and his two grandchildren, Alan Hazeley and Gabrielle V. Benyak-Vazquez. He also leaves his wonderful companion Doodle, Finley. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Pentz, Carolyn Duncan and Mary Ann Lemkelde.

His memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 28, 2025, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA.  His visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.  His burial will be private.
