George R. Hoover

MOUNT WOLF- George R. Hoover, 68, of Mount Wolf, passed away at 7:58 AM, Friday, January 22, 2021 at York Hospital.

George was born August 4, 1952 in York and was the son of the late George L. and Geraldine (Miller) Hoover.

He graduated in 1970 from Northeastern High School in Manchester and York College in 1974.  He was a school teacher for 31 years with Northeastern School District teaching at Orendorf, Mount Wolf and York Haven Elementary schools.  George was a member of the Wago Club and the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493 both in Mount Wolf. 

George is survived by his sister Linda Van Goor of Cumberland, RI; his nephew, Justin Van Goor and his wife, Angelica and their son Erik Van Goor of Greenbelt, MD.  George was supported by his close friends, Shawn Rohrbaugh, Sr., Steve Schaeffer and Mike Redding and many close friends.  George was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Hoover.

His service will begin at 1:30 PM, Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.   Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:30 PM Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York.
