MOUNT WOLF – Goldie M. (Hoover) Wise, 96, of Mount Wolf, passed away at 7:30 PM, Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Normandie Ridge Nursing Home.  She was the wife of the late Gerald C. Shaffer and Harold Wise.

Goldie was born November 28, 1924 in York and was the daughter of the late Earl Hoover, Sr.  and Minerva (Hahn) Hoover.

She graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester and Thompson Business School in West York.  She was a member of Starview United Church of Christ, York Hiking Club, and Hoover Cemetery Board. Goldie was an active volunteer for over 20 years with the York County Area Agency on Aging. 

Goldie is survived by her daughter, Georgia Shaffer of Mount Wolf; her son, Dennis Shaffer of Vermont and her three grandchildren, Kyle Almoney of Millersville and Morgan Shaffer and Mackinley Shaffer of Vermont.  Goldie was preceded in death by her sister, Cecelia Ruth and her brother, Earl Hoover, Jr. 

Goldie was deeply committed to her faith, her beloved family farm and her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of Goldie’s life will begin at 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf.
