Harold E. Hykes

MOUNT WOLF – Harold E. Hykes, 86, of Mount Wolf, passed into God’s care, Thursday, September 23, 2021, at his home.  He was the husband of Janice (Haugh) Hykes whom he married 67 years ago on July 17, 1954.

Harold was born March 29, 1935, in Manchester Township and was the son of the late Charles and Viola (Hamme) Hykes.

He graduated in 1953 from Manchester High School in Manchester.  He was employed by James E. Craft and Son of York Haven for over 43 years before retiring in 2000.  He was a member of the Starview Sportsmen’s Association, former member of Greenspring Hunting Club in Lycoming County, Aughenbaugh’s Cemetery Board, Quickel Cemetery Board and St. Paul United Methodist Church in Manchester.

In addition to his wife, Janice, Harold is survived by his sons, David Hykes and his wife Gloria, Phillip Hykes and his wife Sharon and Matthew Hykes and his wife Sheila; his daughter, Judith Zirkle and her husband Carson; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hykes and his sister, Susan Hinkle.

His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4360 Board Road, Manchester, PA.  Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:00 AM Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be in Quickels Cemetery.  Officiating at the service will be Reverend Dr. Eddie D. D. Miller.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
