Harry K. Hykes
YORK – Harry K. Hykes, 89, of York, formerly of Dover, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York.
Mr. Hykes was born March 11, 1932 in Mount Wolf and was the son of the late Harry and Alva Livingston Hykes.
He graduated from Manchester High School in Manchester and was employed by the former Allis Chalmers, now Voith Hydro in York for over 30 years and later worked for Schaad Detective Agency for 20 years. He was a member of St. David’s Evangelical Congregational Church in Dover. Mr. Hykes proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Mr. Hykes is survived by his son, David Hykes of Dover; his daughter, Lisa Crumling of Mount Wolf; his granddaughter, Laurel Brenner and her husband Nick of Dover; and his brother, Franklin Hykes of Houston, TX and his nieces and nephews, Michael Hykes, Roy Hykes, Denise Hykes, Christina Reyes, Nathan Hykes, Alicia Leiter and LeRoy Zeigler. Harry was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hykes and his sister, Jessica Zeigler.
His funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside service will follow in Manchester Union Cemetery in Manchester. Officiating at the service will be his pastor Reverend Patrick Teaford. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the graveside service.
