Ivan G. Hoover, 95, of Newark, DE formerly of York Haven, PA, passed away on
November 6, 2022 at Millcroft Living in Newark, DE. He was the husband of the late Ruth
(Brenneman) Hoover who died on July 24, 2004.
Ivan was born on April 10, 1927, in Cly, PA and was the son of the late Edna Hoover Markley and the late Preston H. Markley. He was predeceased by his brother, Carroll Markley and sister, Patsy Markley Miller.
He graduated from North York High School in 1945 and immediately joined the United States Army proudly serving in World War II. He graduated from the Central Penn Business School in 1949. Ivan was employed by New Cumberland Army Depot for 35 years before retiring in 1983. He also worked at the family business, Markley’s Grocery Store in Pleasant Grove, PA. He was a member of the Guy E. Shelley, Jr. American Legion, Post 974 in New Cumberland, PA; Goldsboro Firemans Association in Etters, PA, and the National Association for Federal Retirees Chapter 1465. Ivan enjoyed playing amateur baseball in York County in the 1940s.
Ivan is survived by his son, Dallas Hoover and his wife, Patricia Walsh of Newark, DE/Littleton, CO; two grandchildren, Alison Hoover and her husband, Justin Williams of Littleton, CO and Benjamin Hoover and his wife, Allison of Colorado Springs, CO, and four great-grandchildren, Will, Teddy, Madelynn, and George.
Services and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Diehl Funeral
Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
