ZIONS VIEW – June Mary (Rouscher) Witmer, 97, of Zions View passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Witmer, Sr, who passed away January 7, 1983.
June was born May 26, 1926, in York and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Maude (Arnold) Rouscher.
She was employed by Bayox Cigar Factory, Heileg Brothers Wire Cloth, Barry’s Sports Wear and various sewing companies. She was a member of the Northeastern Senior Center, Social member of the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493, Strinestown Fire Company, and a life member of the Ladies auxiliary of the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493. June and her late son, loved to dance and everyone looked forward to her playing the spoons at musical events.
June was survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and her friend and caregiver, Lorreta Wilhide and adopted extended family. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles W. Witmer, Jr. daughter-in-law, Audrey Witmer, and her sister, Betty Vining.
June’s funeral service and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Mount Wolf. Interment will be in Quickel’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zions View.
