Kay L. Kutz
YORK – Kay Louise (Updegraff) Kutz, 84 of York, passed away, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Wellspan, York Hospital. She was the wife of Richard J. Kutz of York, PA.
Kay was born September 22, 1941, in Mount Wolf, PA and was the daughter of the late Alvin E. and Loverna (Shank) Updegraff.
She graduated in 1959 from Northeastern High School in Manchester, PA, and was a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Mount Wolf, PA. Kay’s warm and generous spirit made everyone she met feel loved and special. She loved having fun and making people smile! She enjoyed hosting yard sales and for many years orchestrated an annual yard sale at Misericordia Nursing Home to raise funds for the home. Additional hobbies were crafting, crocheting, flower arranging and playing cards.
In addition to her husband, Kay is survived by her son, Steven Hertz and his wife Ellen of Mifflintown, PA; two grandchildren, Melissa Kay Martin and Jason Hertz; three great grandchildren and four stepchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley Dart and her husband Richard of Mount Wolf, PA. Kay was preceded in death by her son, Keith Hertz, and her sister, Josie Sechrist.
Her memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 27, 2026, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 1015 Church Road, York, with Dr. Vince Wood officiating. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap Military Cemetery in Annville, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf, PA.
