Lois E. Baker
YORK – Lois E. Baker, 90, of York, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 28, 2023, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover, PA.
Miss Baker was born May 22, 1933, in West York and was the daughter of the late Minnie (Folcomer) Baker and Morris K. Baker, Sr.
She graduated in 1951 from West York High School in West York. She was very active in her high school as she was president of the girls’ sports club, active in National Honor Society, a cheerleader for every season, and participated in drama club, girls’ basketball, and volleyball. She was employed by the J. E. Baker Company for over 40 years before retiring in 1996. She was a member of the York County Thunderbird Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of West York V.F.W. Post #8951, and a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in York. She enjoyed nice cars, traveling-especially to any beach, watching sports, listening to classical music, antiquing, and attending concerts at the Strand Theater. She was an avid seamstress and supported family members with many curtains and clothes.
She is survived by her sister, Charlotte Goodling (John) of York; nieces, Amy Schriver (Brian) of Parkton, MD, Andrea Heilman (James) of Dover, PA, Alice Goodling of Upper Darby, PA, Lauren May of Reading, PA and Melissa May of San Antonio, TX; nephews, Kurt Baker (Lindy) of State College, PA, Karl Baker of West York, Steven May of Alexandria, VA and Thomas May of Mohnton, PA and her sister-in-law, Annemarie Baker of West York. She was preceded in death by her sister, Delores May and her brother, Morris K. Baker, Jr.
Her funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York, PA. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:30 AM, Thursday at the church. Burial will be private in St. Jacobs Union Cemetery in York New Salem, PA. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, Reverend Josh Rhone. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
