Lois A. Jordan
YORK – Lois A. (Kohr) Jordan, 91, of York, passed away, Friday, July 7, 2023, at her home in York. She was the wife of the late Lester S. “Zip” Jordan who died March 15, 1982.
Mrs. Jordan was born December 6, 1931, in Mount Wolf and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Leah (Hoover) Kohr.
She graduated in 1949 from Manchester High School in Manchester, PA. Lois worked for many years at their family business, Jordan’s Superthrift, but more importantly, she spent most of her life as a devoted wife, and loving mother to her five children. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in York, PA, and was a former member of the Red Hat Society. Lois was well-known for her love of all things “purple”, her delicious deviled eggs, enjoying a cup of hot tea, endless giggles, and dancing at the Valencia during the Big Band era!
Lois is survived by her sons, Lester J. Jordan and wife, Claire of Mount Wolf, David L. Jordan and wife, Lucy of York; her daughters, Penny Jordan Jensen of Florida, and Machelle Gerber and husband, Chuck of York; nine grandchildren, Christian Jordan and wife Vanessa, Anthony Jordan and wife, Michelle, Lesley Jordan and companion Kasey Koltes, Rachael Scott, Jordan Jensen, Stephanie Jensen, Melanie Besnoska and husband, Robert, Madison Stough and husband Adam, and Kyle Gerber and wife Jillian; 11 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Owen, Miles, Taylor, Landon, Oliver, Nora, Juliette, Sterling, Micky and Lux, and one great great granddaughter, Kenzie. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lesa A. Litsinger, her three brothers, Jacob, Earle, and Leo Kohr, and two great-grandchildren, Kasey, and Kadence Koltes.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to their mother’s caregivers, “In Perfect Hands”, for their professional care, companionship and genuine love shown to Lois during her final months.
Her memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Her burial will be private in Quickel Cemetery in Zions View. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, Reverend Dr. Janyce Jorgensen from Zion Lutheran Church in York.
