Lorraine M. Shindler
YORK – Lorraine M. (Strine) Shindler, 93 of York, passed away, Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at her home in York. She was the wife of James W. Shindler who she married 72 years ago on October 6, 1951.
Lorraine was born January 10, 1931, in Conewago Township, York County, PA and was the daughter of the late Russell and Margaret Helen (Brenneman) Strine.
She graduated in 1948, from North York High School in North York Borough. She was employed by the York Trust Company, J. E. Baker Co., First National Bank in Fairbanks, AK, and Herbalife Supervisor for 20 years. She was a member of Messiah United Brethren Church in York where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Sunday School Joy Class, Superintendent of the Junior Department for 25 years, choir member for many years, United Methodist Women and held offices in the local district & conference organizations, Neighborhood Center Auxiliary in which she served as their first Treasurer, Normandie Ridge Retirement Community Auxiliary, and 48ers Lunch Bunch.
In addition to her husband, Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Wendy Prytherch and her husband Greg of TN, her sons, Craig Shindler and his wife, Marcia of Dover, and Scott Shindler of York; five grandchildren, Brandon Evans (Natalie), Ashley Allen, (Josh), Jaclyn Long (Frederick), Meredith Meckley (Josh), and Caleb Prytherch (Bekah), and eight great grandchildren, Landon & Kenley Evans, Hailey & Mia Allen, Lenora Long, Graham & Ryan Meckley, and Lorraine Kate Prytherch. She was preceded in death by her twin sons, Bryan Shindler and Eric Shindler, and her sister, Betty Paxton.
Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Messiah Church of York, 1300 North Beaver Street, York, PA. Her visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Saturday at the church. Her burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Officiating at the service will be her Pastor Mark Williams.
