Luther George Lease
YORK – Luther George Lease, 90, of York, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Gloria (Grunden) Lease.
Mr. Lease was born May 13, 1930 in York and was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Kochenour) Lease.
Luther is survived by his daughter, Peggy Eisenhart and her husband Dennis of York; six grandchildren; DJ Eisenhart and his wife Jami, Corey Eisenhart and his wife Courtney, Emily Showalter and her husband Kyle, Amanda Evans and her husband Stanley, Amber Lease, Briana Baltozer; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Eli Lease and his wife Marilyn of Portland, OR;. He was preceded in death by son, Robert Eugene Lease; half-sisters Gertrude Patton, Miriam Dahlheimer; and half-brother Charles Lease, Jr.
Luther graduated in 1948 from William Penn High School in York, and was employed as a machinist for GTE Sylvania, retiring after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, starting in 1942, and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Luther was an active member of St. David’s E.C. Church in Dover since 1962, serving on many committees in various capacities. Mr. Lease proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of the 175th Military Police Battalion, during the Korean War.
His funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 11, 2021 at St. David’s E. C. Church 2411 Oakland Road, Dover, PA. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Monday at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Officiating at the service will be his pastor the Reverend Patrick Teaford. Due to COVID restrictions, face masks will be required if attending the funeral in person. The service will be live-streamed through St. David’s FaceBook page at facebook.com/stdavidsecc/. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
