Madaline (Z) Glassick
MANCHESTER – Madaline (Zeigler) Glassick, 92, of Manchester, entered into eternal rest Monday, December 21, 2020 at Manor Care South. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Glassick, Sr. who passed away August 13, 2014. The couple celebrated 64 years of marriage on July 14, 2014 prior to Robert’s death.
Madaline was born September 6, 1928 in Alpine, York County, a daughter of the late John D. and Pauline (March) Zeigler. She lived on a small farm near Pinchot State Park.
Madaline graduated from Dover High School as an honor student in 1945, received her Bachelor of Science from Shippensburg in 1949 and her Masters plus as an honor student from Penn State University. She had perfect attendance awards from 1st grade through college. Madaline was crowned champion speller of Warrington Township and York County for 3 years. After one year of teaching at a one room school in Conewago Township, Mrs. Glassick went to Jackson School in York City for 40 years of teaching. She was a life member of YCPASR, PLM, PASR, NEA, PSEA, in Who’s Who of American Women in 1983. She was a Teacher representative and sponsor for Red Cross for many years. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Emigsville, Council member for ELCA, worked for Auxiliary of Lutheran Social Services and taught Bible School many years.
Madaline is survived by her sister, Ruth H. Holder of York and many friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert C. Glassick, Jr., her brother, Donald J. Zeigler and her sister, Margie P. Frey.
Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in York. Officiating at her service will be her pastor, Reverend Cynthia Baxter.
