Mary-Anne Walsh
YORK - Mary-Anne Walsh, mother to Patrick Walsh, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, after having a recurrence of breast cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends in the days leading to her death. Known for her great sense of humor and quick wit, she will be dearly missed. Born in Fontainebleau, France on June 9, 1950, she was the daughter of the late John R. Walsh, Sr., and Christiane Septier Walsh and aunt of the late Olivier G. Volk. Mary-Anne graduated from the York Country Day School, attended Elmira College and the University of Madrid. She lived and worked in numerous countries including Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, England and York, Pennsylvania. Mary-Anne was a frequent traveler and visited numerous locations across the globe, she turned her passion for international travel into a career, first at AAA and later at Fox Valley Travel. Toward the end of her career, she continued helping others by working at Country Meadows as a caregiver. Mary-Anne was also a talented artist with innate skills in drawing and was an accomplished photographer. She was an animal lover and owned many dogs during the course of her life. The family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her son, Patrick Walsh, Sister, Marie-Noelle Walsh and brothers, John R. Walsh Jr. and Thomas Walsh, and her beloved dog Noelle. Memorial arrangements to be determined. In lieu of flowers and memorial gifts the family asks to make donations to Hospice and Community Care, York PA or Pink Power, York PA, a nonprofit organization that brings women together for an annual event to raise money and awareness for breast cancer related causes.
