YORK HAVEN – Matthew L. Beissel, 64, of York Haven, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at his home in York Haven.  He was the husband of Debra (Wilt) Beissel who he married 35 years ago on July 12, 1986.

Matthew was born May 9, 1957, in Harrisburg and was the son of the late Ray and Ruth (Smeltz) Beissel.

He graduated in 1975 from Millersburg High School in Millersburg, PA.  He worked for Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic, for 36 years before retiring in 2010.  He was an avid bowler and loved sports; Eagles, Flyers, Phillies and the Sixers.  He was a member of Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church in Etters.

In addition to his wife, Matthew is survived by his sons, Kyle Beissel and his wife Theresa of Shippensburg; Nathan Beissel of Carlisle; 3 grandchildren, Brooklyn, Aurora, and Elijah; and his brother, Douglas and his wife Karen of Mechanicsburg.

Matthew’s funeral service will be private.  A webcasting service will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 28, 2022, at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_edajFkIfNmfy4AqGKSyvg/live  His burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery in Spring Glen, PA.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
