YORK – Nancy A. Woods, 65, of York went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at her home after a long battle with chronic illnesses.   She was the companion of David Stackhouse for over 20 years.

Nancy was born October 13, 1955 in Chambersburg, Franklin County and was the daughter of the late Robert A. and Betty (Shaner) Woods.

Nancy attended Fannett-Metal High School in Willow Hill, PA.  She was a former member of the Liberty Club in North York and a former member of Pleasureville United Methodist Church in Pleasureville, PA.  

Nancy found happiness in the simple things of life and valued relationships over material things.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  She enjoyed “Picking” on her siblings and friends in a loving way.  Her greatest love was playing cards, especially 500 Rummy and she played to win!  Even when she was not feeling well she was always ready to beat anyone at a game of cards!  Nancy loved her pets and treated them as if they were her children.  They provided a lot of comfort and companionship to her.  She was especially grateful to her cousins and friends who helped care for her and visit with her.  She wanted to thank her good friend Lorraine as well as Ashley and Marilyn with whom she played cards at Senior Life.

She was appreciative of her care givers at Senior Life for helping her to stay at home in her own environment as long as possible.  She could not have done this without the care and devotion of Dave Stackhouse, the love of her life.

Nancy was survived by two brothers, Robert S. Woods and his wife Faye of East Earl, PA, James A. Woods and his wife Barbara of New Bloomfield, PA; her two sisters, Doris L. Seville of Fannettsburg, PA and Carol L. Rhodes and her husband Gene of Hagerstown, MD.  Nancy had eight nieces and nephews and fourteen great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Nancy will begin at 10:30, AM, Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Please meet at the Pennsylvania Avenue Entrance by 10:15 AM.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
