Nansie Lee Shue
YORK Nansie Lee (Grissinger) Shue, 91 of York, passed away, Monday, March 2, 2026, at her home in York surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John Ivan Shue, Jr., whom she married 69 years ago on September 29, 1956.
Nansie was born on February 15, 1935, in West York, PA and was the daughter of the late Cecil and Agnes (Frey) Grissinger.
She graduated from William Penn High School in York, PA in 1953. She enjoyed racing, especially local sprint car and NASCAR racing and was a member of the York County Racing Club, and Teen Age Club where she was the secretary-treasurer for several years. During WW II, she participated with the city schools in collecting tin cans for the war effort. She received a citation from National Headquarters of the American Legion in token of her work in the tin can salvage drive. She was the first to have collected over 60,000 tin cans. She worked her way up through the ranks to become a Four-Star General with the Tin Cannoneers. Nansie also spent a chapter of her life working with the CIA.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Scott Shue of York; her daughters, Tracy Shue and Jody Shue, both of York; and two grandchildren, Bailey Cross, and Kirill Cross, all of whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jody Grissinger and her brother, Thomas Grissinger.
Her funeral service and burial will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf, PA.
