Nelda J. Crump
MOUNT WOLF – Nelda J. (Shaffer) Crump, 101 of Mount Wolf, passed away, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at her home in Mount Wolf. She was the wife of the late Harry A. Crump who passed away on January 26, 2003.
Mrs. Crump was born May 27, 1923, in York and was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Edith (Nicholas) Shaffer.
She graduated in 1941 from Brocton Central High School in Brocton, New York. Following graduation from high school she attended college at Penn State and York College. She retired in 1983 from Beshore and Koller Ford in Manchester where she was employed as an accountant. She was a member of the Quota Club of York, PA, Lioness Club, Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagle Fire Company, and The Ladies Auxiliary of the Susquehanna V.F.W. Post 2493, both of Mount Wolf. She was a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Mount Wolf. Nelda enjoyed traveling all over the world, including Las Vegas, NV., where she visited at least once a year. Also, she enjoyed playing cards, including Skat and Bridge.
Mrs. Crump is survived by her daughters, Wanda Reisinger and her husband George of Mount Wolf, Bonnie Sunday of Washington; her sons, Harry Crump, II and his wife, Glenda of Mount Wolf, and Robert Crump, and his wife Ginny of Manchester; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson; her sister, Wanda Manhardt of Newfane, New York and her brother, Wilbur Shaffer, Jr. of Sand Point, ID. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betta Arnold.
Her funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 14, 2024, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf. Her viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday and Friday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM both at the funeral home. Her burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery in York, PA. Officiating at her service will be Reverend Lisa Hair, pastor of St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church in York New Salem.
