Oliver “Ollie” Leaf Lunger

MOUNT WOLF - Oliver “Ollie” Leaf Lunger, 15, passed away, Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home in Mount Wolf surrounded by family and love.

Oliver was born August 7, 2008, in York and was the son of Brooke A. Fuller and Douglass E. Gladfelter of Mount Wolf and Jared M Lunger, of York.

He was a student at the York Learning Center. Oliver loved his time at school. Oliver was such a special soul, put on this earth to bring happiness, love, joy, and laughter.

Oliver fought a courageous (lifelong) battle with Alexander Disease Leukodystrophy. He overcame and accomplished so many things that weren't believed to be possible.

Amazing is the best word used to describe him. Oliver was a social butterfly who loved his family and people in general. Oliver loved his TV shows, SpongeBob & Daniel Tiger.  Oliver also loved birthdays, he loved when we sang Happy Birthday to him multiple times in a row.

Oliver spoke with his eyes, sometimes his voice, but mostly just his presence. Oliver was loved so very deeply and will be eternally missed.

In addition to his parents, Oliver is survived by his brothers Cole Gladfelter and Gage Gladfelter, both of Mount Wolf, PA, and Kole Lunger of York, PA; his sister Kamille Lunger of York, PA; his niece, Violet Neri of York Haven, PA; his maternal grandparents, Diane Hoover of York, PA, and Larry Fuller of York Haven, PA; his maternal great grandmother, Barbara Hoover of Harrisburg, PA; his paternal grandparents, Steve and Pamela Crane of Dover; paternal step-grandparents, Stan Gladfelter of York, PA, Carol Stover of York, PA, Bonnie Gladfelter of Mount Wolf, PA, paternal step-great grandparents, Helen Stover of Dover, and Richard and Shirley Dart of Mount Wolf, PA. In addition, he was loved and adored by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and loved ones. Oliver was preceded in death by his maternal great grandfather, Clair “Sonny” Hoover, his cousins, Dakotah Smith and Michael Windemaker, Abigail Osborne, and beloved friend Casey Estep.

The family would like to thank Oliver's doctors and medical staff, Hummingbird, & Sunflower programs for being such wonderful allies through his journey. Also, Oliver's beloved PCA, Ms. Becky Kane, Nurse Leah Sechrist, & Shannon Harmon.

His celebration of life will begin at 5:00 PM, Tuesday May 21, 2024, at Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 87 South Main Street, Mount Wolf, PA. His visitation will be from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. An opportunity to share a story or memory will be provided, the family asks to bring this in writing in the event another party will need to read on your behalf.
