Philip E. Poff
MOUNT WOLF – Philip E. Poff, 94, of Mount Wolf, passed away, Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home in Mount Wolf. He was the husband of Jane (Weigel) Poff who he married 15 years ago on May 23, 2008, and the late Mary (Weire) Poff.
Phil was born May 17, 1929, in York and was the son of the late George and Lottie (Shearer) Poff.
He graduated in 1947 from North York High School in North York. He was employed by Standard Register in York for over 19 years and retired from Trimmer Printing in York. Phils enjoyment of bowling led him to join several Bowling Leagues in the York area. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Manchester. Phil proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, Jane, Phil is survived by his daughters, Virginia Messersmith of Lebanon, and Jacqueline Niaz and her husband, Mohammed of CT; his stepdaughter, Ellen Bicht of CA; his stepson Mark Baier of Mount Wolf; two grandchildren, Adam Messersmith, and Sarah Ortiz; four great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and his sister, Ruth Lentz of York. Mr. Poff was preceded in death by his grandson, Jason Messersmith; his brothers, Leo Poff and Joseph Poff, and his sister, Marie Cartwright.
His graveside service will begin at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Suburban Memorial Gardens, 3875 Bull Road, Dover, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf. Officiating at his service will be his pastor, Reverend Beth Schlegel. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide Full Military Honors at his graveside service.
